Burnelle "Bernie" Roberts passed peacefully into eternal life on March 24, 2024 at the age of 89. A native of Zachary and resident of Baton Rouge, Bernie was an active member of St. Jean Vianney where he led a men’s bible study, brought Communion to the homebound and nursing home residents, served as an extraordinary minister, and was a Lifetime Level 3 member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved God, family, LSU sports, gardening (now promoted to Heavenly gardener) and cutting grass. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his brother, Joe Roberts; children, Chris (Debbie), Melissa Roberts, Jennifer (Marcus) Ledoux, and Carolyn Roberts Badeaux; grandchildren, Tiffany (Philip) Lanza, Stephanie (Steven) Landry, Brittanie (Mike) Myers, D’Shay (Michael) Giambrone, Tara (Josh) Guillory, Elissa Ledoux, Grace (Joey) Dunbar, Madelyn Ledoux, Daniel Ledoux, Catherine Ledoux, Anne Marie Ledoux, Jonathan Ledoux, Christina Roberts and Kaitlyn Lambert and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mona Fuselier Roberts; parents Burnelle and Ida “Billie” Roberts; brother Marvin Roberts; son, Jonathan Roberts and grandson, Derek Roberts. Visitation will be held at St. Jean Vianney Church on Monday, April 1, 10-11:30am followed by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am by Father Eric Gyan. Entombment will follow at St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum.
