Brenda “Joyce” Wallace passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the age of 79 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brenda raised six children and worked at Martin Merritta where she proudly assisted in the building of the external fuel tanks for NASA space shuttle. She was a woman who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply. She loved playing Monopoly with grandchildren, enjoyed a spirited game of Bingo with friends, loved family gatherings, and a great slice of cheesecake. Brenda is survived by her children, Christina L. Ivey, Constance W. Canfield, Bobbie J. Sanders and husband, Edward, Stephanie M. Shattock and husband, Marlon, and Anthony C. Rousseve and wife, Brittany; grandchildren, Joshua, Cory, Rebecca Lynn, Amber, Jeremy, Stephen, Nathalie, Dami, Dante, Asher, Addyson, and John Robert; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harvey Martindale, Shirley Martindale, Linda Edwards, Robert Martindale, and Jimmy Martindale; and many nieces and nephews who loving called her Aunt Joyce. Brenda is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia L. Wallace Peterson; grandchildren, Ashley V. Wallace, Paul D. Wallace and Melvin James Gumpert, III; father, Finley Guy Martindale; mother, Flossie Lee Young Martindale; siblings Guy W. Martindale, James E. Martindale, Vickey L. Martindale and Vivian S. Martindale. A private service was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
