Bobby Talbot Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, on his 85th birthday. He was a World War II Navy veteran who retired from Ethel after 42 years of service. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Edith Talbot; four children and their spouses, Vickie and Bill Tompley, Susan Snelling and Stan Odum, Bobby Jr. and Lisa Talbot, and Nancy Talbot; two sisters, Audrey Singer and Betty O'Neal; eight grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Jackson, Casey Tompley, Brittany and Jeramie Snelling, Gabriel Odum, and Sarah and Jordan Talbot; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Jackson, Celeste Raybon, and Tayler and Jackson Snelling; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Victoria Burns Talbot; brother, Jessie Talbot, and two sisters, Lillian Bentley and Ruth Talbot. Bobby was a very loving, passionate, and devoted family man. He was the family's "Mr. Fix It" and had all the children come over every Sunday for good food and conversation. He enjoyed LSU football and a good martini. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Duhe, celebrant. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be J.J. Talbot, Joshua and Jacob Jackson, Jordan Talbot, Jeramie Snelling, and Gabriel Odum.
