Barbara Rabb Wilson, born on January 13, 1933, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at her home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. She was a longtime resident of Central, LA. Barbara was an active member of Blackwater United Methodist Church for her entire life, and she retired from Bell South with 40 years of service. Barbara, along with her husband, Jewell, attended literally thousands of ball games over the years. She was extremely dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as attending church activities. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jewell McLain Wilson; parents, Alonzo “A.J.” and Eva King Rabb; and sisters, Mildred Loudon and Betty Kling. She is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Jackie Wilson of Central; daughter and her husband, Brenda McClure Poppell and Paul of Central; son and his wife, Scotty and Cherie Wilson of Central; seven grandchildren, Trey, Todd, and Tanna McClure, and Micah, Sydney, Brady and Cole Wilson; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Blackwater United Methodist Church on Monday, May 17 (masks are required) from 11:30 to 12:30 with a religious service to follow at 12:30. Barbara’s grandchildren will serve as the pallbearers. The family would like any memorial contributions to be sent to Blackwater UMC in Barbara’s honor. The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to her wonderful caregivers, Betty Dixon and Claudette Harris. They are both loved and appreciated by Barbara and her family.
