Alvin A. Fairchild

Alvin A. (Buck; Sleepy) Fairchild, Sr. a native and resident of St. Gabriel, Louisiana passed on May13, 2016 at home. Alvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lily Wright Fairchild; a son, Alvin A. Fairchild, Jr. and wife Peggy; and 3 daughters Dewanna Sciscoe and husband James; Wendy Jumonville and husband Larry; Connie Gentile and husband Andy, seven grandchildren Penelope Jarreau and husband Randy; Achille Fairchild and wife Morgan; Larry Joe Jumonville and wife Laila; Courtney Jumonville; Andy Joe Gentile; Sam Gentile; and Josh Babin; five great grandchildren Jake and Julianne Jarreau; Parker and Joseph Fairchild; and Sadie Jumonville. Two brothers Robert Fairchild and Jean Fairchild, and 7 sisters Ella Foster, Cynthia Anderman, Donith Kling, Claire Philips, Cheryl Fairchild, Meryl Fairchild and Martha George. Numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Sam and Mattie Fairchild. He was a retired district chief of the Baton Rouge Fire Department with 30 years of service and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Pallbearers are his grandsons Randy Jarreau, Achille Fairchild, Larry Joe Jumonville, Andy Joe Gentile, Sam Gentile and Josh Babin. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 with visitation starting at 10 am at the St. Gabriel Catholic Church with a mass of Christian burial starting at noon and burial at St. Gabriel Cemetery immediately following mass.
