Alton James Guidry "Jimmy", affectionately called Big Jim, (73), of Central, died October 27, 2023. He was born on June 27, 1950, to Alton and Adele Guidry in Baton Rouge. He married Brenda Michelli on June 4, 1977 and they had 2 daughters, Amy and Megan. He worked as a crane operator, and retired from Turner Industries after 50 years. He was an avid hunter and could often be found in the woods from October to February during any free time.
Jimmy is survived by daughter and son-in-law Megan and Scott Hinson, grandsons Matthew (Mayden Thompson) Guidry and Andrew, Owen, Benjamin (and soon to be Brendan) Hinson, brothers Waylan (Dana) and Terry (Garnet), sister-in-law and companion Debbie Guidry, sister-in-law Wanda Guidry, brother-in law Jimmy Tranchina and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Guidry, daughter, Amy Guidry, parents, Alton and Adele Guidry, brothers, Ronnie and Mike Guidry, sisters, Drucilla Edwards and Kitty Tranchina, and many other beloved family members.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 1 from 5 PM to 8 PM with a rosary recited 7 PM and Thursday, November 2 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 1 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew, Ashton, Jonathan Guidry, Dillon Tranchina, Brandon Melancon, Phil Shaffett, and honorary pallbearers Terry and Waylan Guidry.
