Allen Robert Toups Jr., 80, of Baton Rouge, husband of Patti Toups, peacefully passed away in his sleep, at his home on Thursday, August 14th, 2014. He was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School class of 1953 then served in the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1956. He then went to Louisiana State University where he received his masters degree in education. Bob retired as a dedicated teacher when he was 77 years old. His students adored him over the 34 years he taught. He also owned a successful construction company, building hundreds of homes in the Greater Baton Rouge area. He adored his soulmate, Patti, and loved his koi pond, his dogs Chino and Bella, dancing, movies, fishing, golfing, and playing bridge. His warm personality, kindness, and generosity are a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul. His inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. He is survived by his wife, Patti Toups, brother Melvin Toups, sister Jean Krake, his children, Vicki, Cathy, Larissa, Dania, Shana, Robert, Greg, Laura, Karen, Gary, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Allen Robert Toups,Sr. and Amalie Pelligrin; his daughter, Patricia Lyn Jones and his baby brother, Paul Leslie Toups, Sr. Memorial service is Sunday August 17th. Visitation starts at 4:00 pm and the Celebration of his Life will follow at 5:00 pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
