William Michael Adkins

William Michael “Mike” Adkins, 70, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on April 14, 2023. He was born in Henry County on February 5, 1953 to the late George Adkins and Inez Stegall Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Adkins and sister, Glenna Scronce.

He is survived by his children; Christopher Michael “Chris” and Kelly Adkins of Bassett; George Andrew “Andy” and Stephanie Adkins of Semora, NC, Jonathan Otis and Ashley Adkins of Bassett, VA; grandchildren; Ashton, Madison, Brady, Jayme, Laithan and Bentley.

Mike worked at Bassett Walker, Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Bassett and Philpott Marina. He was a long time member of the Bassett Kiwanis, and Commander of the AWANA group at FBC Bassett. He enjoyed woodworking and listening to calming Keltic music and bird watching. Mike was of the Baptist faith.

The visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, VA from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023. A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Bassett at 10:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2023 with burial immediately following at Henry Memorial Park.
