Cynthia Crotts Roos, age 46, of Bassett, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the home of her mother Ann Stovall Martin, 2474 Stones Dairy Road in Bassett. Born in Martinsville on July 2, 1966, she was also a daughter of Buddy Crotts of Bassett.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John C. Stovall, and her paternal grandfather, Carnar B. Crotts.
Cynthia was the valedictorian of the class of 1984 at Bassett High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated in 1989 from Virginia Tech, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She taught for 17 years at Park Avenue Elementary School in Danville, and for 5 years at Axton Elementary School in Henry County. She was a member of Old Center Primitive Baptist Church.
She is also survived by her step-father, Druie T. Martin, her daughter Charlotte Marie Burnette of Bassett, her son George Nicholas Roos of Danville, her sisters Sherry Potter of Fort Mill, SC, and Lisa Suite of Bassett, her step-brother Michael Martin of Patrick Springs, her maternal grandmother Frances P. Stovall of Bassett, and her paternal grandmother Annie T. Crotts of Bassett.
The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, September 7, 2012, at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Michael Young and Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett, and other times at the home of her mother.
