Catherine Joyce Belton

Catherine Joyce Belton, age 95, of Martinsville, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. Born April 12, 1919, in Henry County, she was a daughter of the late Alice Susan Clark Joyce and George Cabell Joyce. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Claude Earl Belton, sisters, Virginia Dare Joyce, Sallie Mae J. Hutchinson, Lucy Matt Boyd, Marie Joyce Harrington, Gertrude J. Tilley, Edna Ruth J. Tilley, brothers, Claude, George, Fred, Roy T., Jack C., and James D. Joyce, and a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Clark. Catherine was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and worked for many years at DuPont and Bassett Walker. Her real love was being a homemaker as she loved her family and she loved to cook. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Lawson Martin and George Cecil of Hamilton, OH, Mary Ann P. Clark and Jim of Martinsville, and Barbara P. Hood and Bob of Midlothian, sisters, Doris Joyce Anthony of Collinsville, Juanita Joyce Stewart of Fieldale, brother, Raymond S. Joyce of Stanleytown, four grandchildren, Randall Martin, Kimberly I. Martin, James L. Clark III, Melissa Ann Rogers, six great-grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Clark, Seth Christian Clark, Caitlan Renae Scheanwald, Sarah Alexis Rogers, Randall Ray Martin, Robert Lee Martin, and one great-great-grandchild, Liam Martin. The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Mike Carrow officiating. The pallbearers will be: David Harrington, Raymond Joyce Jr., Jerry Joyce, Mike Bryant, Michael Joyce and Wayne Joyce. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Ridgeway. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 P.M. prior to the service at Collins. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
