Carlyne Martin

Carlyne was born April 5, 1939, to the late Hobert Woodson Mize and Maggie Drew Mize. She was the wife of 36 years to the late Wallie Lee Via. She was the wife of 25 years to Jerry Lee Martin. Carlyne loved snow and snow days so that her children could be at home with her. So remember Carlyne the next time it snows.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Gae Duck, brothers Akers Mize, Curtis Mize, twin brother Lee Mize, and Jessie Mize. She is survived by her husband Jerry Lee Martin and her children, Cheryl Crowder (David) of Bassett, Krista Pratt (Tony) of Spencer, Regina Purdy (John) of Bassett and Sidney Via (Tim) of Greensboro; grandchild Zack Martin (Los Angeles), and sister Mae Hylton of Fieldale.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mulberry Creek Nursing for the compassionate care and support they have provided for Carlyne during the past 9 years.

A celebration of Carlyne’s life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, with a visitation at 1:00 PM

and the service at 2:00 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Highway, Bassett with Elder John Wingfield officiating.
