Nellie Elizabeth Thornton

She was born Feb. 21, 1937 in Ramsey, IL to August and Bertha Wiseman. She married Roger Thornton on July 9, 1977 in Bartonville. He survives along with four children: Teresa (Steve) Britt of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sherry Kane of Peoria, Danny (Bonnie) Crew of Jacksonville, FL, Kenny Crew of Kissimmee, FL, 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters: Carman Clayborn of Texas, Mabel (Bob) Westlake of Peoria and one brother, Melvin (Connie) Wiseman of Bellevue.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children: Terry Lynn Tomlinson, Dennis Crew, and one grandson, Amos Crew.

Nellie worked as a custodian in the girl’s gym at Peoria High School for 25 years retiring in 1999. Nellie and Roger are lifelong Chicago Cubs fans and were elated when finally the Cubs became World Series Champions last year.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
