She was born January 2, 1934 in Peoria to Thomas and Gladys (Randall) Brown. She married Frank Scurlock in Peoria on December 18, 1952. He passed away July 28, 1987 in Peoria. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include four children: Debbie Cowie of Marquette Heights, Sandra Scurlock of Washington, Frank “Newt” Scurlock of Spring Bay, Charles Scurlock of Washington (who was Joyce's primary caregiver), three grandchildren: April, Jason, Colton (Shanna), and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Saylor. Also surviving is her longtime and close friend Bonnie Burroughs.
Joyce was a Bookkeeper for 41 years for the Credit Bureau of Greater Peoria, retiring December 29, 1995. She was a member of the Bethany Missionary Church in East Peoria and a longtime volunteer at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
