Grant Arthur “Art” Egan, Sr., age 86, of Bartonville, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Art was born on April 11, 1928 in Peoria, IL to Grant D. and Mary Sophia (Jacobs) Egan. He married Donna D. Matthews on September 11, 1955 in Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008. He was also preceded in death by one son, William Michael Egan; his parents; three sisters; four brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Art is survived by his children, Grant A. (Carol) Egan, Jr. of Bartonville; Lisa A. Egan of Bartonville; Richard A. Egan of Texas and Christina L. Egan-Klusman of Bartonville; nine grandchildren, Jace Earp, Angela Earp, Ryan Clatt, MacKenzie Clatt, Amanda Egan, Andrina Egan, James (Jenni) Egan, Kyla Egan and Jacob Klusman; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Karl and Betty Sutherland; and four brothers, Dewey Egan, John Egan, Walter Egan and James F. Egan. Art worked as coal truck driver before he owned and operated South Town 66. He later owned Egan’s Corner until he retired in 1995. Art enjoyed working with his hands, especially tinkering with small engines and working in the yard. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the 3200 Intermediate Care Floor of OSF St. Francis Medical Center for the great care they showed Art. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 6pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel with visitation beginning at 4pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and interment at Swan Lake Memory Gardens will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to MDA or OSF Hospice.
