Dorothy "Jean" Atkinson

Dorothy “Jean” Atkinson, 85, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Heddington Oaks in West Peoria, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1930 in Breckenridge, Missouri to Henry and Gladys (McLaughlin) Losh. She married Ray E. Atkinson on September 23, 1949 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2010 in Peoria. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Bowers.

She is survived by two children, Robert (Brenda) Atkinson of Marquette Heights, Illinois and Deborah (Brett) Crist of Pekin, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Chad Atkinson and Lucky Knesal; and one great grandchild, Jordyn Atkinson.

Dorothy worked for the Bell Telephone Company, waitressed at the Rockette Restaurant in Bartonville, dispatcher for the Bartonville Police Department and last at GEMCO in Peoria. She was a den mother in the Cub Scouts in earlier years.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jon Dainty will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday.
