He was born December 28, 1942, in Chicago, the son of James and Elwanda (Horn) Markum. He married Lynn Spencer in 1968, in Peoria, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jackie (Joseph) Soto; son, Chad (Jennifer) Markum; grandchildren, Courtney (Angel) Rivera, Corbin (Destinee) Soto, Cyrus Soto, Collin Soto, Lyssa Markum, and Hunter Markum; great-grandchildren, Sylis Soto, and Raphael Rivera; brother, Kenny Markum; and nieces and nephews, Bobby Markum, Ricky Markum, Jason Markum, Jimmy Markum, Wendy Markum, Stephanie Smith, Kirsten Blanton, Michelle Blanton, and Melody Krigbaum.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Regina Blanton, Janis Moore, and Carolyn Markum; and brothers, James Markum, and Harold Markum.
David was formerly employed by Caterpillar, and was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Air National Guard. He was a talented artist whose craft can be seen in numerous places throughout Central Illinois. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel with Rev. Rob Collins officiating. Memorials may be made to the Bartonville VFW Post 3883. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
