Sue was born in 1934 in Huntingdon, TN and was a devoted woman of God who faithfully served at Leawood Baptist Church since becoming a member in the 1960s. Sue was also a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong friend to many. She adored her family and offered dedicated love and support to everyone she knew. Familiar to many after serving her community through faith and love, she also had a passion for sports and music. She was a long-time fan of Memphis Tigers Basketball and performed with her late husband in their former band Larry T and the Travelers. In her later years, she also enjoyed performing with her choir at church and throughout the community. It is difficult to sum up the life of such a loving woman, but she will especially be remembered for her love and devotion to all that knew her.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Allie Rich (Huntingdon) as well as her loving husband, Larry Thomas Barker. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her four children: Jeff Barker (Arlington), Steve Barker (Spring Hill), Lori Bowen (Oakland), and Denise Henry (Oakland). Sue leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Doris Jean Gray (Huntingdon).
A visitation will be held for friends and family on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 1-2PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. The service for her homecoming will begin at 2PM. A graveside service will follow.
