Stella T. York

Stella T. York passed away on Sunday morning, November 10, 2024 at the age of 83. Stella was born on September 27, 1941 in Randolph, MS. She was the youngest of five children born to Willie E. Tutor and Loyce A. Tutor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Willie, Robert, Charles and Gerald. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Joel “Joe” York. She is survived by sons William H. York (Debbie) of Houston, John Gary York (Mary Beth) of Rossville, TN and three grandsons Gregory (Denver, CO), Austen (East Lansing, MI) and Ethan (Kendyl) (Eads, TN) and her first great granddaughter Brynley. She is also preceded in death by her daughter Jo Lynne.

Stella shared a paper route with Joe starting at age eleven. She later worked at Baptist Hospital selling ice cream and sodas. Professionally, she started out as a Kelly Girl working as an accountant clerk at Hull-Dobbs Ford. This led to a long career working for the Dobbs Family in the business office.

Stella and Joe knew each other 67 years. They spent very few days apart and shared many adventures with many great friends. They both loved people and Stella was always busy with activities at church or in her community. Mom never slowed down until her time on earth was done. While the end came fast, she will be remembered through her friendships and concern for the community. Rest easy Stella.
