Bob was born on September 5, 1955 in Midland, Michigan and was one of seven children born to the late Allan Douglas & Genevieve Josephine Spencer. He graduated from Coleman High School in Coleman, Michigan and obtained his Associates Degree in Radio & Television Repair from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. While at Ferris he met the love of his life Susan McLeod and they were married August 21, 1976.
While in Michigan Bob enjoyed all the outdoor activities he could do; fishing, camping, boating, gardening just to name a few. He was an active member of the Bridgman Public School Board and the zoning commision.
Bob & Sue moved to Cordova in 1997 when he was recruited by his former boss who worked for Brother Industries here in Bartlett. He worked at Brother for 19 years when he retired in 2016 as the Senior Director of Quality Assurance.
In retirement his greatest joy was to be able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. He continued his love of gardening, building a beautiful backyard sanctuary for all to enjoy. He developed a love of reading and books. He also was able to enhance and use his woodworking skills to create projects for family and friends. Bob was also a proud member of the Lions (Detroit) Pride even when times weren't so great!!
Along with his parents Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his sister Connie Joseph and his brother Jim Spencer.
To carry on his legacy and memory Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Spencer; his children Robert J. (Sarah) Spencer II, Erin (Matt) Beach, Daniel (Sam) Spencer, and Lorrie Spencer; grandchildren Grace, Robert III, Lily, Chloe, Carson, Ronald Joseph, and Gus; and his brothers Terry (Ann), Tom (Bonnie), Dave (Carol), and Rich (Bonnie).
