Nancy Louise Dickey (NEE), 80, of Germantown, Tennessee passed into our Lord’s arms on November 25th, 2022 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Nancy was born July 21, 1942 in Trimble, TN to Edward V. Henson and Alma Hall Henson. As a child, the family moved to Frayser, TN where Nancy attended school and graduated from Frayser High School in 1960. In 1961, she met her true love on a blind date. After a short courtship of three months, she married James E. Dickey (Jay) on November 3, 1961. God blessed them with 61 years of marriage and two beautiful daughters, Cynthia Lea and Terri Lynn. She worked for Cleo Wrap, Allstate Insurance, and ultimately found her work home, Seabrook Wallcoverings, retiring after nearly 40 years of employment.
Nancy loved shopping and was always considered the ultimate gift giver. She truly loved giving rather than receiving. She was a wonderful cook and loved feeding all her friends and family. To have one of her chocolate pies or dinner roasts was a treat. Nancy’s gracious and positive spirit, giving nature, and love for others always made everyone feel like family. There are many who she mothered and loved over the years and she will always be remembered for her willingness to take them under her wing and love as her own. Those, along with her wonderful lifelong friends, made up her extended family.
Those who knew her know the loves of her life came in the form of her three grandsons who made her light shine brighter. The influence she has had on their lives will last them a lifetime and for that we are eternally grateful.
Nancy is survived by her husband Jay, her daughters, Cindy Scott (Carl) and Terri Landwehr (Steve); her beloved sister, Faye Cooper; her adoring grandsons, Colton Scott (Carley), Noah Landwehr, and Nate Landwehr; two great-grandchildren, Mary Hayes Scott and Hudson Scott; and nephews David Cooper, Greg Cooper, and Craig Dickey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Lucille Eibeck, and two loving brothers-in-law, Jack Cooper and George Dickey.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 2nd with 1 pm visitation and services at 2 pm at the Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133. Per the wishes of Nancy, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
