All of heaven rejoiced the morning of July 27, 2015 when our matriarch Mary Evelene Lee was called home to glory at the age of 96 at The King’s Daughters and Sons Home in Bartlett, Tennessee. Her legacy included many relatives and friends. She is survived by her son Albert W. Lee and wife Beanie Lee of Greenville, SC, daughter Emily Paige and husband Jerry Paige of Bartlett, Tenn., Mary Draper and husband Brian Draper of Monroe, GA.; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by Albert Lee her beloved husband of 54 years and son David Allen Lee.
Mary Evelyn was born and grew up at Shiloh, Tenn. where she lived with her parents Viola and Will Brown, sisters- Patie and Dovie, and brothers- Glen and Hoyet. After high school graduation she worked at Shiloh National Military Park as a visitor guide. During WWII she worked in civil service on air planes as a welder and riveter in Tallahassee, FL where she met and married her Air Force husband. After the war they moved back to Tennessee and started a family.
She enjoyed crafts including making quilts, ceramics and crocheting. Evelyn was an active and dedicated member of Ellendale Baptist Church. She worked for many years in the nursery and especially enjoyed caring for the babies. She was also a member of the senior choir and XYZ at the church.
Evelyn will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and devoted aunt. We all will miss her dearly. The family invites you to Visitation Thursday, July 30 at 5-8:00 PM: Funeral Friday July 31 at 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133.
