Marguerite Frances Ruff Spencer, 80 years old, of Pleasant Hill, TN, formerly of West Tennessee, peacefully succumbed to her valiant battle with dementia and melanoma, going to spend Christmas and eternity with our Lord and Savior on December 23, 2024.
Marguerite was born June 10, 1944 in Memphis, TN to Alfred and Edith Ruff, the second of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Evelyn Ruff Schmidt and Robert Ruff, son in law Thomas Patrick Vermillion, a niece, Tami Fisher Thompson, first husband and father of her children, Richard Philip Hammer, and second husband and love of her life, Robert Spencer.
She is survived by children Tracey Hammer (Ed) Luke, Richard Hammer, Patricia Hammer Vermillion, and Darrell Scott Hammer, bonus children Jim Spencer and Michelle Spencer Puglia. She leaves behind grandchildren Brian (Kayla) Luke, Anna (Jono) Redfern, Katherine Luke, Dustin Hammer, Christopher (Morgan) Vermillion, Ryan Vermillion, Tucker Vermillion, Wyatt Vermillion, Bryan Hammer, Mackenzy Hammer, and bonus grandchildren Katie Mryglod and Michael Puglia. Her sister Carol Ruff (John) Carr survives her, as do cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Memphis, TN before moving to Pleasant Hill, TN in 2017.
Family and friends will gather from nine o'clock in the morning until funeral services begin at ten o'clock all on Monday, December 30, 2024 in the Arlington Hall of Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
Marguerite spent the majority of her life working in the medical field caring for community, friends and family. We’d like to recognize the amazing staff at The Uplands Village Assisted Living and Memory Care Units in Pleasant Hill, TN and Hospice of Cumberland County in Crossville, TN who so lovingly cared for her.
