Judy Carol Woods, age 70, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023. She was born in Humboldt, Tennessee to Harold Wayne and Goldie Evelyn Trimmer. Carol graduated from Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee and attended Memphis State University.
Carol is survived by her husband, Chris L. Woods; sons Jon Woods (Stephanie), Justin Woods (Bethany); sisters Debbie Gore (Jim), Elizabeth McDonald (Brent); brother, Johnny Trimmer; grandchildren Zoe Collins (Chris), Jacob Woods, Collin Woods and Mason Woods.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Evelyn Trimmer, father Harold Wayne Trimmer; step mother, Janice "Jan" Trimmer; son, Christopher Michael Graham; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Trimmer, Michael Lee Trimmer and grandson, Christopher Louis Woods.
Carol was a true example of the American dream, born into humble beginnings in rural Humboldt, TN and moving to Memphis at a young age. At the age of 16 she began working in the mailroom at Lipscomb & Pitts a large commercial insurance broker and after over 40 years in service retired as an executive vice president having won many achievement awards for her outstanding performance. After 3 years of retirement, she had missed working and the people she had relationships within the industry so much that she went back to work for Collier Insurance until she became ill. As much as she enjoyed working and accomplishments, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends even more always being kind generous and thoughtful. She enjoyed spending time at her 2nd home in Greers Ferry, AR, traveling all over the world, and cheering on her beloved University of Memphis Tigers.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. William Weiss and Baptist Hospital and all of the Dr.’s, nurses, and staff who provided outstanding care and support over the last 4 months. Also thanks to all of our family and friends for being there every step of this battle, I know it meant so much to Carol! The family requests donation in lieu of flowers in support of the Christopher Louis Woods Memorial Scholarship at St. Francis of Assisi or to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen.
A gathering of family and friends forCarol will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimneyrock Blvd., Cordova, TN 38016. A committal service will follow in Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee
