Gerri was born on June 10, 1939, in Montcalm, West Virginia to the late Lawerence W. Reece and Mintie Virgie Reece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Paula Babcock, and her husband, Clarence ‘Sam’ Babcock; two additional half-sisters, Helen, and Lucille, and three half-brothers, Robert, Albert, and Walter.
She is survived by her loving husband of more than 62 years, Gary J. Rick; two sons, Michael Rick (Dawn), and Jeffrey Rick (Gerri); four grandchildren, Christina Rick, Anthony Rick (Brooke), Tasha Louison (Jeremy), Caleb Rick (Bailey); one step-grandchild, Heather Sanders; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as a many friends and extended family.
Gerri was known for her love for her family and her ability to make a friend of anyone and everyone she encountered. She faithfully served in her role as a ‘Navy Wife’ for more than 23 years. Her unwavering support and understanding helped to make possible her husband’s lasting contributions to the nation during numerous deployments.
The Rick family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1 pm with a memorial service and reception to follow at 2 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Memphis Funeral Home on Germantown Road in Bartlett, Tennessee.
