He was born on Nov 24, 1936 to George and Mary Jo Riker. After graduating from Catholic High School he served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Philippine Sea. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Jo Riker Arata. George is survived by his brother Harry Riker, sister-in-law Miriam Riker and eight nieces and nephews.
The focus of his life was his faith, his family and golf. He is also survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Peek Riker and two children, son Ricky Riker (Alyea) of Manhattan Beach California and daughter Karen Riker as well as four grandchildren, Casey Riker, Memphis, Travis Riker, James Riker, Grace Riker of Manhattan Beach, California.
George was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church for more than 30 years. He was employed by General Motors Truck and Coach Division in both Memphis and Texas. George was an avid golfer, scoring eight hole-in-ones; as well as qualifying for the National Public Links Golf tournament in the 1960’s. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Celebration of Life will be at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Rd, and Memphis 38119 on Wednesday, December 28th at 1:00 PM
