Born October 11, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio and went home to Heaven to be with Jesus on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Collierville, Tennessee. Ned was born and raised in Cincinnati and met Verilyn Swedersky at Western Hills High School. Ned and Verilyn were married in 1959, and Ned graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1962. They had three sons Gregg, Jeff and Scott, and were together in marriage for 64 years.
Ned worked his entire career in the Automobile Industry. He was hired out of college to work for Ford Motor Company, Lincoln Mercury Division. His last promotion brought the family to Germantown, TN in 1976. After 23 years with Ford, Ned transitioned to Schilling Motors in Memphis for three years and then worked with Roadshow BMW of Memphis as top salesman for 17 years before he retired in 2005 to Florida.
While in the hospital in Dallas, Texas, at age 38, Ned trusted Jesus as Savior. This led to a change in priorities and the family joined Central Church in Memphis two years later, serving as youth leaders and other leadership positions. In 1991, Ned and Verilyn joined Bellevue Baptist Church. Ned was ordained a deacon in 1995 and sang in the Bellevue choir. They were care group leaders in Jim Shoemaker’s Sunday School class. Ned served with the Briarcrest Christian School Athletics Boosters while his boys were in high school and later served on the board of Life Choices, a ministry he believed was making a huge difference in the community.
Ned and Verilyn retired to The Villages, Florida for nearly 19 years. In Florida, Ned and Verilyn served as greeters, small group leaders, and on the Pastors Advisory Board at Village View Community Church and eventually sang in the choir and served as greeters at Meadowbrook Church in Ocala. He loved to play golf and worked as an ambassador at Cane Garden Country Club at The Villages.
February 2023 brought a move back to Collierville to live closer to family at StoryPoint and they have since worshipped at Crossroads Baptist Church.
Ned has been a devoted follower of Jesus, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to play, talk about, and watch golf. He loved the Memphis Tigers! Ned loved people and building relationships with people.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosemary Hauss, his stepmother Virginia Hauss, and his sister Donna Lawrence.
