Betty R. Pike, 83, of Cordova, TN became absent from her body and present with her Lord at her home on May 20, 2022, while surrounded by family and listening to The Gaither’s Gospel music, one of her favorite pastimes.
Betty was a devoted wife for over 60 years, a loving mom and was affectionately called Grammy by her grand and great grandchildren. She was born October 15, 1938, in Hickman, KY to Jasper and Lora Minton. She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, her loving husband James C Pike Sr. and eldest son James C. Pike Jr. She is survived by her daughter Patti Pike and two sons, Kevin (Lisa) and Robbie Pike (Heather), her brothers, Jerry and Ray Minton (RuthAnn), sister Rebecca Jo Minton, thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and Doreen Shelton who she considered as one of her own. She was excitedly awaiting the birth of two great granddaughters (Freya and Oakley).
Betty was a strong woman of faith and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at 14 years of age. She was a devout member of Central Church. She and her husband enjoyed attending church services, Sunday school class, Come Alive events where they praised their Lord and made many long-time friends and extended family.
Betty graduated as Valedictorian from Hickman High School in 1956 and later went to work at Sears where she met her husband. She briefly worked at Scott Appliances prior to starting her over 25 year career at Federal Express in 1974 and from which she retired as Treasury Department, Corporate Cash Management Manager. During her career at FedEx, she also served as President of the National Corporate Cash Management Association.
In retirement Betty enjoyed decorating her new home, planting flowers in her yard, spoiling her family and planning family events and holiday gatherings. In her most recent years, she loved to laugh and make her family laugh. Her family frequently spent time with her reflecting on the many happy memories she spent her life creating for us all. She will be immensely missed, remembered and loved forever.
A visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM
