She graduated from Louisiana State University and interned at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon, as a registered dietician. For some years she headed food and dietary services at the West Tennessee TB Hospital.
She leaves behind her husband of 69 years, Judge Morgan C. Fowler, her son, Cary Fowler (Amy), and daughter, Jo Fowler Hargraves (Ed). She also leaves four grandsons: Morgan Hargraves, Joel Hargraves (Shannon), Martin Fowler (Becca) and Thomas Fowler, and a great-grandson, Clark Fowler Hargraves.
Betty Fowler will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, her lack of any pretension, her gentle sense of humor, and the twinkle in her eyes. She was a member of St. Philip Episcopal Church.
The family thanks Kirby Pines Retirement Center, Crossroads Hospice and Connie Crosby for the care, comfort and friendship they gave her. Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN will handle arrangements. A private service will be held at a later date.
