Linda Kaye Smalley

Linda passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on August 7th, 2021, at the age of 77. She has been reunited in heaven with her father and mother Lorin and Edna Montgomery, her sister and brother in-law Dianne and Johnny Callison, and great-grandson Adrian Martinez. She is lovingly remembered by her three children Lisa (Steve) Boothe, Monty (Kymberli) Smalley and Julie Schoell; her two sisters Carol (Tom) Saunders, and Bette (Jim) Bryan; her three grandchildren Kayla Schoell, and Marshall and Sawyer Smalley; many nephews and nieces; countless friends; and her beloved dachshund Roxy.

Linda was active in Kern County her whole life. She was born and raised in Bakersfield and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1962. Later in life, she returned to school and earned her Business Administration degree from Santa Barbara Business College. She was a savvy businesswoman and owned and operated Rand’s Bakersfield RV Center for many years. She later went on to work for Steinert Investments, where she was employed for almost 20 years. She was a member of Bakersfield South Rotary Club, where she served as treasurer and on the board of directors. She was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and volunteered regularly at Global Gifts Christian Outreach. For many years, Linda was a season ticket holder at Stars Theatre, where she regularly spent evenings enjoying dinner and a show with her friends and family.

Linda was fun loving, quick to laugh, and had a big heart for friends, family and even strangers. She was full of compassion for those less fortunate and would often make meals to take to the park to feed the homeless. Her love of animals was apparent by the many cats and dogs she adopted throughout her life. Travel was another great passion of hers and she was fortunate enough to have visited many foreign lands. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will follow with her being Laid to rest in Valley View Garden.
