Jerry Dan Moore was born on August 23, 1946, in Bakersfield, CA, to John and Lena Moore, the third of four brothers (Jimmy, Eugene, and Doug). He passed away peacefully at home of heart failure on August 31, 2024, at the age of 78, after an extended illness.
After growing up in Bakersfield and graduating from South High School, Jerry enlisted in the US Army at age 19. After his stint in the military, he spent most of his working years as a skilled self-employed welder. He could fix just about anything. He was very sociable and known for being comical and a prankster.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and follower of Dale Earnhardt until his death. He loved camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Moore, two daughters, Kimberly Reid and Kristie Sagendorph (Wes), four grandchildren, Makenzie Reid and Madison, Mason, and Morgan Sagendorph, and his precious dog, Peaches.
Jerry was a beloved husband, daddy, and papa. He was a member of Valley Baptist Church and was baptized there. He will be deeply missed, and we are grateful knowing he is at peace in heaven.
