Arlene Rose Williams, peacefully passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 88 in Bakersfield, California. She was born on January 13, 1935, in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Margaret Jessen and William Gietzen. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Wayne Gietzen.
Arlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the Lord and found joy in serving her family and others. Arlene had a warm and welcoming personality, always eager to meet new people and make them feel at home. She was a wonderful cook and there was always an extra place at her table for anyone who was hungry. Her genuine kindness and generosity touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. Arlene had a special talent for giving gifts, and her thoughtfulness brought joy to many.
Her hobbies included cooking, baking pies, and visiting See's Candy. Arlene's greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved husband and soulmate of 70 years, Don; her children; her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arlene's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Monday, October 16 at 10:00am, held at Hillcrest Memorial Park located at 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Don Williams; her sister, Sandy Barber; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Stephen Griffith; her son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Lucy Williams; her grandchildren, Michael (and Mandy) Griffith, Kim (and Kris) Tiner, Jacqueline (and James) Schwind, and Jennifer (and Brad) Cordova; and her great grandchildren Alina Tiner, Elise Tiner, Ofelia Cordova, Barrett Schwind, and Ella Schwind.
May Arlene's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Although Heaven rejoices at her presence, the earth weeps for its loss of her.
