Allen Mac Anderson

November 2, 1942 – February 28, 2023

Mac was the only child of Allen and Billie Anderson born on November 2, 1942 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023. The family moved to Bakersfield, California in 1950.

Mac attended East High School, where he played varsity football for the Blades. He earned the nickname “Mac the Rack” for his aggressive tackling of opponents and keen eye for defense. He graduated in 1960 and was inducted into the East High School Hall of Fame in 2021. After graduating, Mac was recruited to play football at Pepperdine University. He played for one year and joined the US Air Force. Following his service to our country, he joined the Bakersfield Police Department. Mac advanced through the ranks ultimately serving as Assistant Chief of Operations. With 25 years of service, he retired. During his tenure at BPD, Mac received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Redlands and was chosen to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. One of his proudest moments was when he helped bring the California Police Olympics to Bakersfield in 1988.

Mac’s life was full of friends and adventures. He was a licensed pilot, played golf, fished, loved his pets, traveled, volunteered, and was a lifelong fan of the USC Trojan football team.

Left to honor his memory are wife Vickie Spivy Anderson; son Kurt (Blanca) and three grandchildren: Anthony, Tim and Elizabeth; a daughter Carrie; Uncle Murray and Aunt Pat Clark of Fortuna, CA; and cousins: James Clark of Menifee, Marilyn (Mike) Dilger of Diamond Bar, Jane (Stan) Mack of Kingston WA, Rose (Steve) Scroggins of Emerson WA and Kandy Clark of Ohio. Mac was preceded in death by his dad Allen and his mom Billie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Highway on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 10:00 a.m.

A funeral service for Allen will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA 93203.
