Charlie was my 1st cousin and also my godfather. Titi Petra was my aunt. I am very saddened to hear of his death..The family was very close as we were growing up. But as we all got older we lost touch. My condolences are sent to the family. Prayers for all for it it is a very sad time when you loose a loved one. 
 

In the Fire Department if you want to know what kind of person the boss is have coffee with the boss in the firehouse kitchen.  Charlie Rivera was the Battalion  Chief quartered in my firehouse and he and many of us had coffee in the kitchen.  Charlie was a  good and just man - a “Good Chief” and one of the finest amoung many.  Rest in God’s care Charlie.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of uncle Charlie, My sincere condolences to Patricia, Denise, Jimmy and family.
I have many found memories of spending time with him, Aunt Joan and the kids in Brentwood and then in Commack with Bob and Michael. He was always studying for the next position in the Fire Department and we were all so proud of him every time he moved up to the next rank. But through all that studying he always made time to come up from downstairs and share some good times with us. He was kind, funny, smart and determined, may he rest in Eternal Peace

Cuzin Charlie was more a big brother to me. I remember when he was stationed at the Seneca Avenue Fire House in Hunts Point, Bronx he took me with him to inspect fire hydrants. I was in 1st grade. In 2cd grade my class from PS48 had a walking field trip to the fire house and Cuzin Charlie picked me up and put me in the cab of one of the fire trucks to steer and sound the fire alarm. It left an indelible impression in my life. He was my big brother then and always will be in my heart. May you rest in eternal peace cuz. Until we meet again. Félix 

I have fond memoriesd of Charlie. When he was promoted to Batt Chief he was assigned to Battalion 41. I was assigned to E.248  in the same firehouse.  Charlie was personable an friendly he would often ask me questions of what I was studying and then test me on my knowledge of the various subjects. I looked foward to his questions they became more challeging. Upon my promotion Charlie and I  remained in contact with each other. Eventually I was promoted to Batt. Chief and once more we were assigned to the same borough. Charlie was the Borough Commander and I was an assigned BC in SIBC. Ialways enjoyed his humor and intellect. We eventually lost contact upon his retirement and then my retirement when I moved to Florida. I was fortunate to have had him as a friend. May he rest in peace.
