She was my elementary teacher. She was tough on me but if it wasn’t for Ms.Peña i would be in a different path in life. It took me so many years to find her. But i never forgot her in my heart. She truly made a difference in my life. I’ll forever remember her. 


She was the best grandmother someone could have.



When I first met Ysabel, she mentioned that her husband taught at ACC. We found out that Paz had been one of my professors. Because of his class I became interested in Mexican American studies and later majored in it at UT, where both had attended.  She was more than a teammate, she was a friend. A dear friend. Both Paz and Ysabel helped mold me to be  the person I am today. A teacher who looks for ways to reach each student and an advocate for those whose voices are seldom heard. La lucha sigue.



We are terribly saddened to lose Ysabel and her husband.  We knew Ysabel as a caring and dedicated teacher. I always looked forward to visiting her class to read to her kids. She made Travis Heights Elementary School the special place it is.



Mrs. Pena was my daughter's teacher at Casis.  She was such a caring teacher and person.  My prayers to your family for your great loss.



Isabel was the most wonderful spirit that I met in Austin. She was the best primary teacher I ever observed in the AISD schools, always doing her best to reach all of her students, regardless of their circumstance or background.  She genuinely loved and cared for the educational well being of her students as her own. It always gave me such a sense of hopefulness to observe how she could transform the most challenging during the time she was their teacher.   Her loss is such a blow to those of us who were  so drawn to the presence of godliness that lived in her spirit of goodness and kindness.  My deepest condolences to her family and all who were blessed by her presence in our lives.

It was my pleasure to work with Usable at THES for several years. Her compassion for the students and calm manner were outstanding! She truly had a beautiful soul.

Ysabel was a wonderful, creative, joyful, supportive, loving person.  I am honored to have called her "Friend"!  She had her second grade class at Casis perform learning presentations to my kindergarten class, and both sets of children had fun learning. Ysabel dearly loved Pas, her family and all children. My heart is so sad for all of our loss!  I am blessed to have known her!

Mrs Pena was both of my children's teacher at Travis Heights. I was her home room mom and grew to know her as a friend. She was an amazing woman and an incredible teacher. She will be greatly missed. I never had the honor to meet her husband but know that heaven has gained two beautiful angels!
