William (Bill) Randolph Hurst of Lampasas passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 while surrounded by his adoring family. He was born July 27, 1936 in Austin, Texas to Ruth Billingsley Hurst cade and Ed Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Luther Hurst and Edward Hurst, and sister Mary Ruth Hurst Kilpatrick. Bill is survived by his brother Robert Dale Hurst of Austin, his loving daughter Barbie Hurst Teets, Son-in-law Rob Teets, son Randy Hurst of Elgin, and two granddaughters, Taylor Teets and Dana Teets, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill wholeheartedly loved his children, his granddaughters, and his sweet dog Toy.
Bill owned and operated Hurst Automotive where he dedicated his life to service for 25 years. After closing Hurst Automotive in 1991, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a ranch. Bill purchased his little piece of heaven in Lampasas and ranched there until 2015. His philanthropy was specifically directed toward helping the youth of Austin. Countless children benefited from his generosity through his active support of several Town & Country baseball and soccer fields and teams.
In his later years, Bill's greatest joy was his two granddaughters, Taylor and Dana. Papa loved his girls with all of his heart and beamed with pride with each of their accomplishments. According to Victor Hugo, "To love another person is to see the face of God," which rings true for Bill Hurst. He definitely saw the face of God through his love for his family and their love for him.
