Victoria Mary Kosiba age 82, much treasured mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and friend loved building her collection of angel statues. On Sunday, November 20, 2016, Vickie became an angel watching over all of us. She passed from this earth surrounded by her loving family.
Vickie was born in Catskill, New York on August 28, 1934 to Antonio and Victoria Sangi. She graduated from Saugerties High School at age 16 and spent several years as a valued secretary with firms in New York City. She returned to Saugerties and married John who, in her words "put her on a pedestal”. She and John had a fulfilling life raising their five children. In 1980 they relocated to Austin, Texas with four of the children. Her beloved husband John went to heaven in 1981.
Next to her grandchildren, cooking for her family and friends was one of her great passions. She loved sharing her foods gifts with the family, bestowing on all, everything from the world’s best meatballs, to her famous banana and Amish breads. Vickie was an avid gardener taking great pride in all the beautiful flowers her green thumb produced. Most important to Vickie though was her family, neighbors and friends.
Vickie is survived by her son, Victor Kosiba and fiancé Candace Smith; son Ralph Kosiba and wife Susan; son John Kosiba and wife Dianna; daughter Joanne Brockway and husband Dan, and daughter Laurie Miller. She has seven precious grandchildren, Jessica Segraves and husband Stephan; Michael Miller; Jennifer Kosiba; Amanda Brockway; Catie Kosiba; Sarah Kosiba and fiancé Ian McPherson and Miranda Miller. Vickie is also survived by her sisters Josephine Peterson; Tonita Lezette and her husband Karl and Deborah Freiburg. In addition, she received great joy from many nieces and nephews in upstate New York.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 25 at 6:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 pm at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750. The memorial service will be held at the same location on Saturday, November 26th at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville.
