A third-generation Austinite, Tim spent his entire life in the Austin area, playing football starting at a young age, continuing through high school, and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. Tim was a successful business man, managing several banks in the Austin area in the 1990’s as well as establishing his own successful fiber optic cabling company, Austin Data Drops. Tim enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his boys, Jarrett and T.J. Tim was an extreme fan when it came to UT football games and tailgating. The caliber and number of life-long friends who consider themselves Tim’s “brothers” reflects the man who was larger than life to us all. Charismatic, practical joker, encyclopedia of Texas history, Mr. Fix-It, best friend, patient teacher, loving partner, father. Tim was all of this and more.
Tim cared deeply about friends and family, and did better than most of us to live every day to the fullest. Though he did not talk about it, he was a devout Christian who knew Jesus Christ and who was always confident of where he would spend eternity.
Tim was an avid fan of Nascar and loved supporting his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt, Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart. Another of his favorite hobbies included fishing and boating at one of his many favorite spots around Austin, as well as deep sea fishing. Tim also enjoyed owning & driving classic cars and attending car shows.
Tim is survived by his father, Jerry Jones of Austin, TX, mother Susan Starr of Golden CO, son Jarrett Jones of Austin TX, son Timothy Lee Jones II of Tivoli, TX, and fiancé Carol Marshall of Austin, TX. Also surviving Tim are his brothers, Mike Jones and his wife Jeanene of Round Rock, TX and Jerry “Bubba” Jones and his wife Belinda of Corpus Christi TX, sister Debbie Jacobsen and her husband Brian of Calhan CO, along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
We acknowledge with gratitude the extraordinary care provided to Tim by the ICU/IMC nursing staff and physicians at Seton Northwest Hospital.
