Teresa Granger, 54, of Austin, Texas, sadly left us on November 22, 2022, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Randy; her son and daughter, Aaron and Lauren; her devoted brother, Will; her dearest friend, Elizabeth; and her cherished bulldogs, Bella and Penny.
Teresa graduated from Travis High School in 1986, where she was active in the marching band and mariachi club. She later earned a degree in Sociology from Auburn University. She retired in 2007 as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force and went on to enjoy a second career as an IT specialist with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, retiring in 2021.
Proud of her family’s military history, Teresa joined the Air Force right out of high school. She served her first tour of duty at Misawa Air Base, Japan, where she met and married Randy and had her first child, Lauren. She then served at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, and welcomed her second child, Aaron. She later deployed to Landstuhl Germany in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and finished her career out of Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
Teresa enjoyed nature adventures in the West Texas mountains or along the Texas coast, but she also treasured quiet moments at home, crafting sock puppets, painting cartoon creatures, or building rock art. More than anything, though, she loved cuddling with her sweet bulldog, Bella.
Teresa was a devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated friend. She lived a life of grace, kindness, and composure, and she will be deeply missed by those who loved her. To honor her memory, we will have an informal remembrance, with military honors, on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home between 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, with military honors at 4:00 PM. We invite anyone who knew her to attend, and we ask that attendees dress casually.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Hospice Austin's Christopher House for the tender and compassionate care they showed Teresa in her final days. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this wonderful organization. You can offer your support at https://www.hospiceaustin.org/get-involved/donate/donation-form/.
