Rod Rodriguez

Rod Rodriguez, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Rod’s life was defined by his passion for aviation, dedication to engineering, and devotion to his loved ones.

In 1993, Rod became the proud owner of G&R Aviation, where he spent three decades serving the aviation community of Lago Vista, Texas. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, he managed sales and maintenance for his cherished aircraft like the Cessna 120, Citabria, and Decathlon.

His impact in aviation was preceded by a long, respected career with IBM, where he worked as a Senior Engineer and later as a Staff and Advisory Engineer. He contributed to groundbreaking projects, including the Space Shuttle program. A graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Rod embodied relentless curiosity and deep pride in his work, from engineering prototypes to navigating complex proposal negotiations.

Rod is survived by his beloved sister Patricia Abood, daughters Renée Mueller and Lisa Thompson, son Gregg Rodriguez, grandchildren Ashley LeVrier, Olivia Mueller, and Zach Rodriguez, and great-grandsons Oliver and Elliot LeVrier. He was also a cherished father-in-law to Marc Mueller and Mimi Rodriguez. Rod’s warmth, dedication, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Rod’s legacy lives on in his family, his community, and the skies he loved so much.

A visitation for Rod will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. A graveside service will occur Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, TX 78731.
