Robert Eugene Bond, 81, of Austin died Tuesday, January 27, 2004. He was born August 23, 1922 to Travis and Gladys Palmer Bond. He was a UT Graduate and served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. Robert was a devoted employee of Whitley Printing Co. for 37 years, until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed golf, gardening, dominoes and cards and was affectionately called Mr. Fix-It by his grandkids. His survivors include his wife of 56 years, 363 days, Joyce Geiser Bond, whom he married in Austin, Texas on January 29, 1947. He also leaves behind his daughter, Barbara Prellop and husband, Ronnie of Georgetown; his son, Gary Bond and wife Jan of Midland; mother, Gladys Bond of Eastland; sister, Betty Kidd of Eastland; four granddaughters, Melissa Garcia and husband Joey, Michelle Clark and husband Stephen, Megan Prellop and Rhonda Bond and two great grandchildren. Graveside services (burial of ashes) will be held at Austin Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2004. Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie Gorin, Gus Grosskopf, Jack Brown and Jim McCorquodale.
