Peter was born on November 5th, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to Dr. John and Kathleen McNutt. He grew up in Austin, graduated from Westlake High School, and received a degree from Louisiana State University in music theory and composition.
Peter loved playing the drums, and taught scores of students to perform on percussion instruments. Peter could play almost any musical instrument, ranging from guitar to keyboards to vibes. He worked in the music industry most of his life, selling musical equipment, playing in bands, and composing. His proudest accomplishment was his jazz CD, "Pete's Cafe", which he rearranged in 2012 and gave to his family and friends.
Peter is survived by his four children, whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his mother, Kathleen McNutt, two brothers, Scotty (Joan) and Jim (Janet), and one sister, Carolyn (Lawrence), as well as well four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2010.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7 at 3 o'clock at University Presbyterian Church, 2203 San Antonio Street.
