Pauline McCoy Green passed away in Houston, Texas on March 5, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Paulines life was a gift to all who knew her. We will always remember her beauty, her gentle and selfless spirit, and her devotion to her family and her faith. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Pauline also touched many in her roles as a church elder, Sunday school teacher, community volunteer, and early childhood teacher. Recently, she and her husband were made Life Elders at University Christian Church, Austin. Pauline enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening and cooking. However, her first love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pauline was born on October 4, 1929, in Trinity, Texas to Gladys Dunnam and John William McCoy. She was the eldest daughter in a family of ten children. Pauline met and married her best friend, Leslie Green in 1952. Over the next fifty-three plus years, Pauline shared fully in Leslies ministry as he pastored several Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in Australia, and Texas, including an 8 year ministry at Hyde Park Christian Church in Austin. Together, they were blessed with four wonderful children: Rod, Steven, David, and Kathy. Pauline attended college at Texas Christian University early in her marriage, but did not finish her degree until many years later. At the age of 58, she enrolled at Texas A&M University, Texarkana, and completed her education degree, graduating Cum Laude. Pauline is survived by her husband of fifty-three ½ years, Leslie Kilby Green. She is also survived by her four children and their families: Rod and Cindy Green, and daughter Zoe, of Bedford, Texas; Steven Green and Cindy Pentony of Salem, Oregon; David Green, his fiancée Ellen Robertson, and his sons, Harrison and Charlie, of Amarillo, Texas; and Kathy and Chad Golson, and daughters, Katie and Grace, of Austin, Texas. Pauline also leaves behind one brother, James McCoy of Crockett, Texas; three sisters: Shirley Bailey of Richwood, Texas; Virginia Cardin of Bryan, Texas; Sue Huffman of Trinity, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at University Christian Church in Austin, Texas on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. A service of committal will be held in the chapel of the University Christian Church in Fort Worth, on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to either the pipe organ fund at University Christian Church, 2007 University Drive, Austin, 78705; or the Memorial Fund, Central Christian Church, 903 Walnut Street, Texarkana, TX 75501.
