Patrick Edward Roth was born June 6, 1947 to Clement Edward Roth, Jr. and Marguerite Marie Verret in Baltimore, Maryland. He passed from this life on August 31, 2014 after a courageous battle with mesothelioma cancer at the age of 67.
Pat loved his country and was proud to serve in the United States Army. He started his career as a Military Police Officer in the Texas Army National Guard which gave him the opportunity to join the Austin Police Department in 1968. He was proud to be a member of APD for 14 years and then he followed his desire to serve his country in the Army. He joined the Active Guard Reserve program at Camp Mabry in December 1982 and retired in May 2002 with the rank of Master Sargeant. Pat was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 47 years. He had over 1,000 young men go through his unit over the years and was a great role model and leader for them. When the word got around about Pat’s illness, he was flooded with telephone calls and visits from many of these men and Pat’s family is really thankful for the words of praise for his dedication to making them the men they are today. Pat also earned the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting for his service. He had been a member of the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association for a number of years and Native American culture and history was a passion for him. After his retirement from the military, Pat went to work at Just for Fun Watercraft Rentals on Lake Travis for 11 years. His boss, Pete Clark, was one of his former scouts and Pat enjoyed his time at the lake.
