Patrick Dickson

Patrick was born on October 26, 1980 in Austin, Texas and continued to call the city home for the rest of his life. As a young boy, Patrick quickly established himself as a connoisseur of chicken fried steaks and patty melts. As a teenager, Patrick attended Bowie High School, graduating in 1999. He was well known to friends and local authorities for cruising down Austin roads and highways in his early model 1986 Mercury Cougar.

Patrick and the love of his life, MarrGwen, met during high school while attending youth group at Hyde Park Baptist Church. During a youth group choir trip in the summer of 1999, Patrick and MarrGwen realized their many years of friendship were something more, and love blossomed between them. Their young love remained strong after high school, despite the long distance, as MarrGwen initially studied at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and Patrick at The University of Texas in Austin. The long distance didn’t last long as MarrGwen transferred to The University of Texas so they could complete their studies together. In 2003, Patrick graduated with a degree in Finance from the McCombs School of Business. On October 16, 2004 the two high school sweethearts were married. Their union brought years of love, loyalty, and laughter, and, on May 16, 2012, their family was made complete with the arrival of their precious triplet daughters, affectionately known as “The Girls.”

Patrick was a lifelong, die-hard Longhorn fan. Patrick loved Longhorn football so much he would often volunteer to temporarily leave the room while watching games if the team was not performing well, in case his presence was to blame. Due to Patrick's selfless actions, many believe he is at least partially responsible for the Longhorn’s 2005 National Championship victory.

Patrick was a talented and passionate golfer, from elementary school all the way to recent years with his beloved Muny Rats. Patrick used his love of golf to mentor young kids during his service with the First Tee organization. Despite Patrick's high level of play, he was never too busy to play with or (try to) teach his less-than-talented friends the finer points of the game.

Patrick's professional career included working for the State of Texas Bond Review Board, and later for Sheshunoff & Co. Investment Banking. In 2013, Patrick joined Kasasa and quickly earned a reputation as someone you wanted on your team. He cared deeply about the people he worked with, and he made the lives of countless co-workers more productive and a whole lot more fun.

Everyone who knew Patrick would tell you he was funny, his dry wit and deadpan delivery being bolstered by intelligence and irreverence. He was a good friend, always willing to listen; a smart, positive, and impactful coworker; and an amazing son, brother, and husband. Patrick was many things to so many people, but, above all, he was the best father possible to his three amazing girls.

Patrick will be remembered by his wife of 18 years, MarrGwen; beloved daughters: Mary Alison, Malone Hesperia, and MarrGwen Rhys; father William H. Dickson, Jr.; sister Robyn Garza and brother-in-law Ron Garza; brother-in-law Sean Owen and sister-in-law Ambreen Owen; nephews Joaquin Garza, Aram Owen, and Asa Owen; mother-in-law Alison Hanks; father-in-law Jack Owen and Catherine Hawn; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Patterson Dickson, who passed away on July 30, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on October 5, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, located at 5416 Parkcrest Dr., Austin, Texas 78731.
