Nis H. Juhl of Austin, Texas, was born on October 1, 1927 in Hamburg, Germany, to Peter and Margarethe (nee Lüth) Juhl. He passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023 at his home. Nis attended Tri-State College (now Trine University) in Angola, Indiana, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering in 1952. Nis became a Naturalized Citizen in 1954 and subsequently served as a Corporal in the Army, teaching in their electronics program, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He spent his entire career as an international patent agent and passed the Patent Bar. He worked for Ladas & Parry Intellectual Property Attorneys in Chicago for over 20 years, then with Dow Chemical in Michigan and Texas for 19 years. He loved his work and supported Dow's international casework in Japan and at The Hague, Netherlands. Nis was a smart, kind and generous person; a devoted husband and father. He had many deep and varied interests including stamp and coin collecting, scuba diving, travel, genealogy, history, and followed new discoveries in science and space. He loved his family and loved life.
Nis is survived by his daughters, Karen Juhl and Tina Juhl Lopez del Castillo and his son-in-law, Enrique Lopez del Castillo. He was preceded in death by wife, Julia Idonis Lancaster, and brother, Ernst Otto Juhl, as well as his parents.
A service will be held on Thursday, March 16th at 4:00PM at Cook-Walden, Chapel in the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd.
