A sweet, kind and gentle boy, he was his mommy Colleen Berry Horner's dream come true, and brought his daddy Matthew Arnold Horner a daily joy in life he had never previously imagined possible. As the proud, devoted and protective big brother to Lily Elizabeth Hanson Horner, his “Lily Beth”, he never ceased surprising us with the amount of love he had to give or could inspire in everyone around him.
The most energetic, curious and happy little boy any of us have met, he was always the brightest soul in the room. From Cowan Elementary Day Care, which he attended from January 2011 until June 2013, to The Little Gym he had attended since he was 10 months old, to Primrose School where he had just begun preschool in June 2013, or with the congregation at St Christopher's Episcopal Church, he brightened the day and the life of every path he crossed.
The best of his mommy and daddy, Nathan brought both an excitement and compassion for life that has changed and expanded our own ability to harness that same excitement and compassion. From construction man, pilot, dinosaur or superhero, he only ever wanted those around him to join in the world he had created and the joy it brought him.
He was our superhero. Our life and the lives of anyone lucky enough to have met him during his far too short journey have forever been changed. Altering us to see in one sweet boy the best we all can be, we question why our child, who affected us all so positively, deeply and permanently, was called to join the other angels so soon. He leaves a gaping hole in the whole world and in the broken hearts he has left behind.
Thank you, our son, our sweet boy, our superhero. You have our whole hearts forever.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2013 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church located at 8724 Travis Hills Drive in Austin, Texas 78735.
