Minnie Rodriguez Torrez of Austin passed away December 20, 2012 in Austin. She was born May 4, 1922 in Jourdanton, Texas to Miguel Angel and Josefa Rodriguez. Josefa was a direct descendant of Juan Leal, who was one of the founding patriarchs of San Antonio. He immigrated from the Canary Islands in 1731.
Minnie married Ben Prado Torrez, Sr., pictured above with Minnie, on August 28, 1948 in Austin, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 1987, 3 brothers, Bartolo Ridriguez, Mike A. Rodriguez and Euganio Rodriguez; 4 sisters, Irene Rodriguezm Melee Molina, Susie Cantu and Inez Arrendando.
She is survived by her son, Ben P. Torrez, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; 1 daughter, Stella H. Torrez of Austin; 1 sister, Guadalupe Hernandez of New Mexico; 2 grandchildren, Philip Torrez and Eric Torrez.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 26th of December 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
