November 27, 1944 – September 14, 2022
Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Michael Conway Creswell passed from this life to rest in the loving arms of his Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
He was born November 27, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Theo Conway Creswell and Olinda E. (Hansen) Creswell.
After graduating from high school, he attended Lamar Tech University through his sophomore year. After leaving Lamar Tech, he was drafted into the United States Army and served a two-year tour of duty in Vietnam. For his service, Michael was awarded the National Defense Service and Army Commendation Medals. When he returned to the states, he attended the University of Texas.
While he did not graduate from UT, he continued to develop his interest in drawing and writing along with his keen interest in politics. He loved Texas bluegrass music, BBQ and long drives through the countryside. Michael retired from the Texas Workforce Commission in 2005. During his retirement he spent time fishing, drawing, writing, reading, metal detecting and hanging out with his sweet cocker spaniel, Pearl. He also looked forward to his monthly lunches with longtime friends, Patrick and Peggy. Michael’s antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He will be missed.
Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra (McHenry), his son, Jacob Conway, grandson, Marcus Conway, sister Nancy Gold, brother-in-law, Rev. Carl Schoss, several nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Astrid Dianne Schoss.
