Maureen Kay (Baer) Cerkan, 75, passed away November 20, 2017 from a long battle with stomach cancer. Maureen was the kindest, and most patient and supportive mom, wife, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend.
She leaves behind her son, John Cerkan; daughter, Donna (Cerkan) Galati; son-in-law, Neil Galati; grandsons, Alexander and Isaac Galati, and her husband of nearly 53 years, Fred Cerkan. She is also survived by her sister, Audrey Erdman; brothers, Gene Baer, Jim Baer, Larry Baer, Bob Baer; and many nieces, nephews, and their children. Maureen was born in Junction City, Kansas, and grew up in Topeka. Maureen and Fred lived in Illinois and Southern California before settling in Houston, TX for 35 years. Fred and Maureen moved to Austin, TX in 2014 to be near their children and grandchildren. Maureen and Fred made an incredible team, an exemplary pair full of laughter, love, and joy.
Her patience was evident in everything she did - her beautiful sewing and quilting always done with care. She was an excellent cook and baker, and made beautifully decorated cakes for all her family. She spent many years working on a detailed ancestry history of family. She could do anything she put her mind to, and everything she did turned out beautifully. Her kindness was evident in the amazing care she took of others, always listening and so incredibly supportive of friends and family. She absolutely loved being a grandma. She is loved immensely by all in return, and will forever be missed.
