Mary Aileen Vaughan, long time Field Entertainment advertising department print manager died Monday evening, June 22, 2015 at the Home for Southern Hospitality in Austin, Texas after a twenty year battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
The daughter of Dr. Edwin O. and Louise Cunningham Vaughan, Mary was born on March 29, 1941. She was a native of St. Albans, West Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi social Sorority. She began her career as an apprentice print production manager at the Gulf State Advertising Agency in Houston, Texas where she became a senior print media buyer. In 1980 she joined Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey as advertising production manager in the Washington, DC corporate offices and officially retired from Ringling's parent company, Field Entertainment Inc. in 2006.
She was active member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Arlington, Virginia where she served as member of the Vestry and taught Sunday school. She was a tireless volunteer at the church's Columbia Pike Thrift Shop.
Her family and friends will remember "Mary Moo" as a woman of true grit and perseverance. Known for her quick wit, sage advice and unswerving loyalty, she was a caring, insightful and spiritual mentor with friends from every walk of life.
